Be Polite


Nobody likes hearing criticism, but it’s even worse in the form of ambiguously bitter comments like:

“I’m sorry you feel that way.” (Translation: “I’m not really sorry, you’re the one who’s over-sensitive.”)

“I wish I were confident enough to wear that outfit.” (Translation: “Your fashion sense sucks.”)

Comments like those are engineered to undermine the person without implicating you for saying something blatantly mean. This is where cattiness begins. Don’t give your friend a reason to question the meaning behind things you say to her.
