Female Friendships

As someone with a lot of female friends, I feel a little bad for women who claim that they can only hang out with guys because other women are too catty. They’re missing out on so much – and I don’t just mean stereotypical “girl activities” like shopping trips or pedicures. A great girl friend can be an anchor in times of need, as girls connect with each other on a level that guys just don’t experience. She’ll understand the mechanics of mother-daughter relationships, sympathise with you while you moan about your biological clock, and she’ll know exactly what to do when you’re bowled over with cramps in a public place.

Sure, there may be periods of time where you compete over guys or take your mood swings out on each other, but these problems aren’t unique to friendships among women. All relationships, no matter the depth or the genders involved, take hard work. If you’ve never been able to befriend other women, it’s not too late to learn.
