Guide

We need to be able to use the memory of what others did wrong to chart a different and better course in our own lives. We should never idealise anyone nor focus on their shortcomings. Rather, we place their failures in context, turning our objectives into a sense of acceptance for and understanding of the conditions under which they had functioned. Our memories and experiences become a guide for avoiding bad behaviour rather than an excuse for it.
